MOVADO - "Always in Motion"
Tracing its origins to La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland when in 1881, Achilles Ditesheim, a 19-year-old entrepreneur, hired six watchmakers and opened a small workshop in the village of La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1905, Ditesheim renamed his young company Movado – a word meaning “always in motion” or “movement” in the artificial, international language of Esperanto.
Movado watches are known for their minimalist style and the iconic signature metallic dot at 12 o'clock. Also, Movado is best known for its Museum Watch. In 1947, the single dot watch dial that will earn world renown as The Movado Museum Watch is created by Nathan George Horwitt, the first artist to explore the concept of time as design. By 1960, Horwitt’s original dial design becomes the first watch dial ever to be accepted by the Museum of Modern Art, New York, into its permanent design collection.
Today, Movado is an American luxury watchmaker with a proud heritage of Swiss craftsmanship, design excellence, and technological innovation. Since 1881, Movado has been a brand in motion – always changing, always innovating, always moving forward. With more than 100 patents and 200 international awards for watch design and time technology have made Movado one of the world’s premier watchmakers.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust the lighting, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
